JERSEY PATCHES

Custom Jersey Patches: Crests, Captain Bands and Sponsor Badges

A jersey carries more than a name. It carries a crest, a rank and a league. Each piece has its own spot.

  • Send one crest for the whole roster
  • Set sizes by position
  • Keep the captain mark simple
  • Check league rules first

Sponsor and league rules vary. Some leagues fix the size and spot. Others leave it to the club. Ask before you order a full roster.

Sewn or heat?Depends on the fabric
  • Chest crest sits near the heart
  • Sleeve badge sits mid-bicep
  • Sponsor art follows the sponsor guide
Polyester kits take heat or stitch. Check the fabric label first. Mesh and stretch cloth can hold a sewn patch best.

SPORTS CLUBS

Custom Sports Patches for Hockey, Baseball and Football Clubs

Each sport puts patches in its own places. Here is one idea per sport. Your league rulebook has the final word.

Hockey

A crest on the chest and a small badge on the sleeve.

Baseball

A team crest on the jersey front or sleeve.

Football

A club crest and a captain mark.

Wrestling

A club crest on the warm-up jacket.

Soccer

A kit crest and a sleeve badge.

  • Hockey: chest crest, alternate badge
  • Baseball: sleeve or front crest
  • Football: crest and captain mark
  • Wrestling: warm-up jacket crest
  • Volleyball: bold shorts or jersey patch

Short bold crests work best on a moving player. Fine detail is lost at a distance. Think about how fans see the crest from the stands.

  • Bold crests read from the stands
  • Two or three colors keep it clean
  • Match team colors with Pantone numbers

Letter jackets are a different build. See chenille letter patches.

BJJ GI RULES

Custom BJJ Gi Patches: Sewn Placement That Fits Competition Rules

Gi patches follow strict rules in competition. These are typical rules. Check your federation's current rulebook.

AreaAllowedNote
ShoulderYesCommon spot
Upper chestYesBelow the collar
Upper backYesLarge patch spot
Upper armYesAbout 4 cm above the elbow
ThighYesAbout 15 cm from the pant opening
SpotTypical size
Chest4 by 4 in
Shoulder6 by 2.5 in
Back12 by 4 in
Thigh6 by 6 in

Ask your coach for the current rulebook. Rules differ between federations and events.

  • Collar is usually forbidden
  • Lower back is usually forbidden
  • Sew patches on for safety
  • Check every rule before you order
  • Keep the gi's fit in mind

Sewn patches stay put through hard rolls and many washes. A patch that peels mid-match is a problem. Stitch all four edges.

Check your federation rulebook. Rules change by federation and by year. Typical sizes here are industry ideas, not our limits.

Custom BJJ Patches for Rash Guards and Shorts

No-gi gear is different. It stretches and gets wet. PVC suits it better than thick thread.

Rash guards are tight and slick. A thick sewn patch can feel stiff. A thin PVC patch lies flat and sheds water.

  • Rash guards: sublimation or PVC
  • Shorts: PVC on the thigh
  • Spats: flat and light

SCOUT UNITS

Custom Scout Patches for Troop and Pack Events Without Official Insignia

Units order patches for their own events. Official insignia come from licensed vendors. We make unit and event patches from your design.

Troops and packs use patches to mark a camp, a hike or a year. A small run for one event is a normal order. Add the date and a short name.

Troop

A troop crest with the unit number.

Pack

A pack patch with den or year.

Event

A camporee or hike with the date.

We do not copy official insignia. Official Scouting America items come from licensed vendors. Your unit patch uses your own artwork.

What Scout Patches Are Called: Rank, Merit, Unit and Event

Rank
Shows a scout's level in the program.
Merit
Shows a skill that a scout has earned.
Unit
Names the troop or pack.
Event
Marks a hike, camp or gathering.

Patch names confuse many parents. Rank and merit patches are program items. Unit and event patches are made by each troop or pack.

  • Add a short unit name
  • Add the camp or hike date
  • Unit patches: your crest and number
  • Event patches: your event and the date
  • Keep rank and merit items official

BAND MERCH

Custom Band Patches for Jackets, Merch and Tour Bags

Fans love a patch. Bands sell them at merch tables. Members sew them on jackets and bags.

  • Logo patches for fans
  • Tour date patches
  • Jacket back patches
  • Bag and cap patches
  • Fan club member patches

Keep the logo simple. Fine lines fill in when thread packs tight. Bold shapes stay sharp on a dark jacket.

  • Send the logo as a vector file
  • Pick two or three thread colors

PATCH TYPE

Which Patch Type Suits the Kit: Embroidered, Woven, Chenille or PVC?

Match the patch to the garment. Each type has its own page. Use this quick map.

TypeBest forKitNote
EmbroideredCrests, rostersJerseys, jacketsRaised thread
WovenFine textShirts, bagsFlat finish
ChenilleBig lettersLetter jacketsSoft and thick
PVCWet gearNo-gi, bagsRubbery

Chenille suits letters and big crests. Woven suits tiny text. PVC suits gear that gets wet. Embroidered suits most jerseys.

WASHED WEEKLY

Which Attachment Survives Team Laundry Cycles

Team kits get washed every week. The wrong attachment lets go. Pick one that suits the fabric.

MethodWeekly washKit
Sew-onHolds longestGi, jackets
Iron-onCheck oftenCotton and poly
VelcroRemove firstWarm-ups

Heat holds best on a clean, flat fabric. Weekly cycles loosen it over time. Sewing a few stitches at the corners adds hold.

  • Sewn patches suit hard weekly use
  • Iron-on needs heat and a clean fabric

See the heat application details and hook-and-loop options.

FULL ROSTER

Ordering for a Full Roster: Artwork, Proof and Reorders

A team orders once and wears the crest all season. The process is the same for one patch or many.

Count spares too. Players lose kit and new players join mid-season. A few extra patches save a reorder.

  1. Count your roster and spares.
  2. Send your crest as AI, EPS or PDF.
  3. Approve your free proof.
  4. Set sizes for each patch spot.
  5. Plan your next reorder.

Reorders are simple. Send your crest again next season. Ask about your past order. Rush runs take 5 business days from proof approval.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Team, Club and Scout Patch Questions

What are scout patches called?

They fall into four groups. Rank patches, merit patches, unit patches and event patches. Each marks a different thing, from a level to a camp.

Can you make official Scout rank or merit badges?

No. Official items come from licensed vendors. We make unit and event patches from your own design.

What is the rarest Boy Scout patch?

Rare patches are collector items. We do not trade them. We make custom unit and event patches from your design.

Can I order a patch for just one player or one captain?

Yes. There is no minimum order. One captain patch is a normal order. Order from one patch up to 100,000.

Which patch type is best for a jersey?

Embroidered or woven suits most jerseys. Fabric decides if you sew or heat-apply. Check the label first.

Where are BJJ gi patches allowed?

Typical spots are the shoulder, chest, back, upper arm and thigh. Check your federation rulebook before you order.

Can BJJ patches be iron-on?

Sewn is safer for a gi. Iron-on may suit some other gear. Check your rules and your fabric before you choose.

Do you make band and club merch patches?

Yes. Send your logo. We make it to order, from one patch to a full run.

How do I order for a whole roster?

Send one crest and set your quantity. You get one free proof in 24 hours. See the roster steps above.

Where do hockey and soccer crests go on a kit?

Most go on the chest. Small badges go on the sleeve. Training wear often takes a bold crest.

Can a team reorder the same patch next season?

Yes. Send your crest again, or ask us about your past order. We confirm what is on file.
